Opera takes the players on a journey through the musical periods of Baroque, Classicism and Romance, revolving around the famous works of Händel, Monteverdi, Mozart, Beethoven, Wagner and Verdi.
The players are leading members of aristocratic families who dedicate themselves to encourage a finer taste in opera in six leading European cities. The sequence of play is decided by the players, through a delicate system of bidding, budgeting and decision making. At the start of each round, the players choose how much they are willing to spend to hire the employees and characters. The player with the highest bid chooses the first role. The Impresario scouts for music pieces of the most famous composers. By inviting the Maestro to the city, you will add more grandeur to the performances in your opera house. The Critico gives a relentless judgment on the operas he visits. He has a major influence on the fame of the composers. These roles are the core of the game, together with the Architetto, the Signora and the Esperto.
