Dixit is an unusual card game and is difficult to categorise. It comes with a set of cards beautifully illustrated with storybook pictures. The box cover is an example of the card art.
Each player has a hand of cards. One player is the storyteller. He selects a single card, places it face down on the table and announces a clue about the card's picture. The trick lies in making the clue not too obvious and not too hard. All the other players now select a card from their hands and add theirs' to the Storyteller's. All the played cards are mixed and turned face up and the other players must now guess, from the original clue given, which card is the Storyteller's. Scoring is based on correct guesses, but the Storyteller is penalised if everyone guesses correctly and the clue was too easy.
Dixit Odyssey is both a standalone game and an expansion for the base game, Dixit. It contains 84 new cards, a folding game board, new rabbit scoring tokens and a box large enough to hold all the Dixit cards released to date.
Dixit Odyssey includes enough components for up to twelve players and also has variant rules for team play and for new ways to play with the cards.
