Each player is the owner of a water zoo and tries to attract as many visitors as possible, thus earning points. To create a zoo that people want to visit then a player must collect animals. When a player's water zoo is successful he may want to expand it, but when his animal basins are full then he must place additional animals into his depot, which loses him points at the end of the game. When a player makes skillful use of his co-workers he gains additional points. The player with most points wins.

Aquaretto is based on the award-winning Zooloretto game. Aquaretto can be played as a stand-alone game or combined with the original.
