It is now 1949 and the Great War has never ended. Over the last 35 years, neither the Union nor the Reich has succeeded in tipping the precarious balance of power far enough to claim victory. But darker allies are being awoken and ancient rules of warfare, long forgotten, are about to be brought onto the battlefield. In the heart of Central Europe, secular crypts, hiding the Obscura Cardinal Cornerstones, have just been discovered.
TANNHÄUSER is the base game in the TANNHÄUSER series. It features the men and women of the 42nd Marine Special Forces, led by John Mac Neal, and the mysterious and deadly Obscura Korps of the Reich locked in a struggle to recover the Obscura Cardinal Stones. Parachuted behind enemy lines, a fistful of men and women are all the Union has left to thwart this peculiar menace. The Unions finest trained commandos armed with technology still in its experimental stages, the glory bound 42nd Alter-Marine Special Forces must now face the most terrible danger to face humanity in recorded history.
Players take the characters of inidivdual heroes - each represented by a finely-detailed, pre-painted miniature. As the game progresses, players can customise their hero with an array of weapons, medals, ranks, powers and equipment allowing players to develop a unique tactic and style of play for their hero.
Tannhauser is usually played in Story Mode where there are two sides per session and up to five people can play. The Missions are not laid out with specific goals players can randomize their objectives and weave the story around that, or they can customize their own scenarios.
There are also Death-match, Capture the Flag and Domination modes of play for extremely quick play sessions, particularly with large groups.
This box of Tannhauser includes everything required for two to ten players to begin playing in the u-chronic Tannhauser universe. The Tannhauser line will feature many expansions, offering new Heroes, new Troops, new maps, and new gameplay options
