We are deighted to offer Talisman 4th edition, a board game that has been responsible for introducing more people to the fun of fantasy games than any other. The gameplay is based on the very best aspects of the previous editions, but with added extras such as the all new speedy play rules. The game looks fantastic, with fabulous new artwork. Fans old and new will love this edition.
Talisman's enduring appeal is that of a traditional fantasy boardgame and more. Players soon find themselves taking part in an epic quest of brave deeds, daring encounters and death defying battles, which deepens as the game unfolds. First released in 1983, the game continues to excite and maintains a strong following with a thriving Internet community. The new edition of Talisman will appeal to fans of the timeless original and will also create a new following of would-be adventurers.
How to Play Each player selects a character from 16 included in the game. Characters come with two basic abilities: Strength and Craft (magic ability). Each character also has special skills that help them during the game. Players move their character around the board by rolling a dice, but can choose the direction in which to move. At each empty space on the board, a player has an encounter by drawing a card from the Adventure deck. They may find an item of use or value, or be forced to deal with a monster. Combat is resolved with a simple die roll. Some Adventure cards are left on the board space for others to encounter - in this way, the board changes with every game and during play. As the game progresses, the characters gain experience from the combats they win and this is reflected by an increase in their Strength or Craft. Characters with high Craft can obtain spells and use these further their progress (or bring down their opponents).
Players are aiming to find a coveted Talisman. With this they can proceed to the centre section of the board and the Crown of Command. From here they can hurl a powerful Command spell at all other characters and take down their life points. The aim is to be the sole remaining character on the board.
Talisman revised 4th edition is to be produced by Fantasy Flight Games. Their version will include plastic miniatures for the game figures. Release date: October 2008
