Beowulf, the Legend is a competitive board game for 2-5 players. Players take the role of boon friends and companions to the mighty hero, Beowulf, and accompany him on his journeys and adventures.
Over the course of major and minor episodes, players re-enact scenes from the epic story by playing cards to overcome challenges. Travelling, Friendship, Wit, Courage, and Fighting will ensure victory in each episode, and the player who displays the most skill, audacity, and luck will earn rewards of fame and fortune.
Beowulf, the Legend is designed by the legendary Reiner Knizia and lavishly illustrated by John Howe, the same team that brought you The Lord of the Rings Board Game.
GKG Comment: You don't need to know anything about the Beowulf legend to enjoy this game. It's a tense bidding game where players vie to win fame and fortune along the story track. If you haven't got the right cards to stay in the bidding, your can always take a Risk and draw extra cards from the deck. How far will you push your luck? There are penalties if you fail.
